The Great Life and Journey of Marco Polo Come to an End.

The year was 1295, and after 17 wonder filled years of working  for Kublai Khan, my family and I started to feel homesick. Although Kublai wasn't to happy that his most dependable men were leaving, he had to say goodbye. But with that goodbye he had one last request. He wanted us to escort a Mongol Princess to where she would marry a Persian Prince. This time we traveled by sea, with hundreds of sailors and passengers wanting to get back home. There were terrible storms on the way. The result of the cramped ship lead to deadly diseases. By the time we had reached the Perisan destination only 18 other passengers, including myself, my father and uncle and the princess were still alive. Finally after two years of travel, we reached home and returned to Venice. We've been gone for over two decades. Our absence only made it harder on our family in Venice. Our face suddenly looked unfamiliar and it was hard for us to communicate with them the way we use to.     I sent out a war ship to Genoa and was later thrown in prison. I became friends with a fellow prisoner and writer and told him all about my journey to China. Soon my journeys were published into a book The Description of the Worldlater known as The Travels of Marco Polo. My book of travels was read world wide including all over Europe and China. In 1299 I became a celebrity for being a fictional author. Still no one believed me. After I was released from prison, I returned to Venice. I met and married a girl and with her raised three beautiful girls. I grew old and died in my own home in Venice in 1324. From 1254-1324, I lived a long life and I wouldn't change it for the world. The next time someone says Marco Polo, don't think of the game. Think of my great adventures.

Jobs and Hard Work.

I was so happy to have been given a job, especially to be a special envoy. What my job meant was, Kublai Khan would send me to far areas of Asia that were before explored by Europeans. I always had with me a metal stamped packet that Kublai gave me to be able to show my official credits and ability. I was a envoy for quite a while and because of my hard word and dedication I got a promotion. I served as the governor of the Chinese city and later on I was promoted to a official Privy Council. I was also the tax inspector in the city of Yanzhou. Throughout all these jobs I've learned so much, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity. I admired the idea of paper money and the production. I later discovered that I was an early anthropologist and ethnographer. My travels not only filled me with great knowledge, high-class jobs, and extraordinary stories to tell; it gave me adventure. An adventure I never even knew I craved until I got to taste it for the first time. I was the luckiest man on earth because I got to travel the world with my family.

What China was like.

It took us 4 years to get to China and meet Kublai Khan. Since it was the summer time, Kublai was staying a palace that was named Xanadu. It was grand, big, extravagant, nothing like I've ever seen before. My mouth dropped and in that moment I thought to myself "Those hard four years of travel were so worth it".
My family and I had planned to only be in China for a few years, but we were gone from Venice for over 23 years. I had written down all my travels of the far east. Soon enough my "book of travels" got very popular; famous actually. But no one believed that I traveled that far because aside from the book there was no real evidence; so I was a laughing stock.
Since we were there for so long, we've earned great respect from Kublai Khan. My father and uncle got important positions in the leader's court. Since I was so dedicated and engaged in the Chinese culture, I soon mastered the language. Not only was I able to communicate with everyone, but I too earned great respect from Kublai Khan and got a job as a special envoy.

Adventures to Come.

It turns out that their mystery travels back then took place in China. My father and uncle were apart of a mission with a Mongol Leader named Kublai Khan. He's considered high class because his grandfather, Genghis Khan, discovered northeast Asia. Kublai Khan had once told them how interested he is in christianity. He also asked my father and uncle to come back with 100 priests and holy water so he could learn the customs of the religion. My father and uncle couldn't get 100 priests but at least they found 2. They headed back out to china in1271 along with me. The entire journey was on land, and it was tough getting through some territories. I seemed to remember almost every place and culture we've witnessed, and I realized that I don't have a purpose in traveling; I do it for the adventure.

Marco Polo... does that ring a bell?

It must not ring a big bell because all people think of when they hear Marco Polo is the game. What is the point of the game anyways? The fact that I was gone so long you couldn't find me? Well I'll have you know, being gone wasn't all fun and games for me; sometimes I kind of wish you guys playing the game did find me.

Anyways back to me being gone for so long. I didn't know any better, I was kind of under the influence. Not like that... Most of my childhood I spent parentless in Venice, Italy. My mother died when I was young, and my father and uncle were out traveling the world and meeting new people. By the time my father and uncle returned I was 15, the year was 1269. That also the first time they meet me in person. As soon as they came back they made plans to go back and travel some more... except this time, they took me along with them.
